Early Music Society of the Islands: Tenor Soloist

EMSI presents a varied Christmas programme featuring baroque music from Austria, France, Germany, Italy – and Canada! In addition to works by Biber, Campra, Telemann, and the featured work, the charming Cantata Pastorella by Benedikt Aufschnaiter (1665-1742), the concert includes the seventeenth-century “Huron Carol” sung in the original Huron/Wendat.

*Due to the COVID-19 restrictions in British Columbia, the scheduled performances of this concert were cancelled and the program was filmed at Alix Goolden Hall, and broadcast on the EMSI website. It is available here*

Victoria Choral Society: Requiem in D minor; K. 626 - W. A. Mozart

Written at the end of his life, 'Mozart's Requiem' in D has become an iconic choral masterwork, a reputation that has only benefitted from the controversy surrounding it's mysterious benefactor and subsequent completion by Süssmayr.

Bach on the Rock: Gilbert & Sullivan, and Friends: Gems from the Savoy Operas - Gilbert and Sullivan

"“Gilbert & Sullivan, and friends – Gems from the Savoy Operas” will present selections from the repertoire of the Savoy Operas.  The programme will include well-known Gilbert & Sullivan favourites (such as selections from The Yeoman of the Guard, which critics consider to be Sullivan’s finest work); not so well known works by the couple (such as the rarely heard The Grand Duke); and selections from other composers active at the Savoy Theatre."
